CONCEPT AND DEFINITION (MEANING) OF LANGUAGE
There are various experts who have tried to define the meaning of language, for example Mgullu (1999) in his book “Mtalaa wa Isimu” referring to the ideas and opinions of various experts has tried to define the meaning of language as follows.
Trudgil, (1974) says “Language is a system of random sounds used for communication among people of a certain society with its own culture”
Sapir, (1921) says “Language is a system that man learns to use to convey ideas, opinions and needs. This system uses signs that are given voluntarily”
Weber, (1985) says “Language is a system of human communication that uses a special arrangement of sounds to create larger units such as morphemes, words and sentences” He also claims that language is any system of human communication such as the French language. Hindi language.
The TUKI dictionary (1990) says, “Language is a system of sounds used by people of a certain community with a similar culture to communicate.”
In general, we can say that language is a system of random sounds that have been accepted by the community of certain people to be used in meeting their daily communication in various aspects of life such as politics, economy and culture. Due to the various meanings of those experts quoted by Mgullu (1999).
